4.2. Wind Shear

Annual wind shear values ranged from to 0.15 to 0.36, except for Huceo Mountains and Guadalupe Pass (Fig. 4.8), where the values were 0.08 and 0.02, respectively. In general the wind shear from 10-40 m and 25-40 m were similar on an annual basis, although there were some differences by month and season (Fig. 4.9). Notice that for Maryneal the wind shear is higher in the summer (Fig. 4.10). For most sites the wind power at 50 m is greater than would be predicted from the 10 m height data and applying the conventional 1/7 power law exponent as wind shear values for many sites were 0.25 and above.
