WEATS has been used
as a method of connecting the information at the federal level of the
National Renewable Energy Laboratory to the selected participants that
have the best chance to use the information to begin or further wind
energy projects on their facilities. In the past we have had attendees
from select foreign countries as well as Native American tribes from across the United States.
The goal is to present, in a short amount of time, the
general information that is needed to plan a wind energy project. Then
to familiarize the participants with the key steps and potential
problems with wind energy developments. To do that the participants
will be presented with the fundamentals of wind energy, how turbines
work, the constraints of location and access to the power grid and the
potential economic impact for the region.
